Handsome and soft-spoken, Michael Lazarus lives in a 1950s kit home in Portland, Oregon. There he makes paintings, and by make paintings, I mean he collects things from his home and adds personality. A wood panel apologizes. A vintage outlet cover gives you a wink. An old construction barrier tells you to get the fuck away. And all of them stare you down.
Michael has perfected the balancing act of intention and letting the objects speak for themselves. Clever, impish but also just a little bit sad.
